Enteprise Backup/Restore: Control your backup, don't let it control you

Enterprise Backup/Restore—Overview

IT's most fundamental purpose is to ensure that data is made available how and when users need it. Firms must have complete confidence that their critical information will be restored under all circumstances. To that end, backing up data is possibly the most important function that IT performs. Older Enterprise Backup applications are either too complicated to allow that level of confidence to exist, or they are not robust enough for the task.

Voyant Strategies has teamed up with Commvault Systems, Network Appliance, and Quantum to create a best-in-breed integration that combines policy-based backup and data migration with highly reliable backup media, to give your management the piece of mind it needs to move forward with new initiatives.

Enterprise Backup/Restore—A Logical View

This diagram demonstrates how Voyant's backup strategy allows for multiple copies of restorable data in disparate medium-independent locations.

Commvault Galaxy manages backup streams from almost all types of operating systems, and keeps track of each copy of data for restore purposes. This allows for multiple backup copies to be stored at disaster recovery sites, reducing RTOs and RPOs to hours instead of days. Furthermore, as tape is less reliable than disk for restore purposes, this strategy ensures that tape is not the first point of recovery but the last.

Combine this technology with Quantum Tape and Disk Libraries and NetApp NAS devices, and backup windows can be reduced by over 90% as well. To find out how your organization can benefit from Voyant's 10 years of experience with Enterprise Storage and Backup, please contact us.
